We are excited for International Reading Week at Hill! See the next paragraph for all you need to know, including how to volunteer and have your student(s) participate in the annual Hill Heritage Parade this Friday. This is an amazing annual event at Hill that gets bigger each year! Thank you to our volunteers and families that make it possible.
A Message from PTA on the Hill Heritage Parade and International Reading Week: We invite all of our Hill families to share their cultural heritage with the community! Please let us know if you’re interested in participating in the exciting events we have planned for the week of September 14-18. Heritage Parade — Friday, Sept 18 after morning assembly. Students are encouraged to dress in cultural attire and/or wave flags. Participation is optional but encouraged! International Book Reading — Parents are invited to read a short book to their child’s class about their culture, a tradition, or in another language. Our Dillos love this tradition! Let us know if you’re interested in a book reading to your child’s class or if your Dillo would like to walk in the parade by filling out THIS FORM. Keep an eye out for a sign-up link from your child’s homeroom parent as well. Questions? Contact culturalcommittee@hillpta.org.
Fall Picture Day is this Wednesday, September 16! Classes will go for individual pictures at their assigned times in the morning. Click here to see how to order fall pictures.
We want to invite our community to our next Hill Principal Coffee this Thursday, September 17th at 7:45 am in our Hill library. Our ACPTA representative Lily McClure for Hill will be sharing and presenting on advocacy and ways to get involved, as well as answer questions you may have around the many things affecting Hill and AISD right now. Principal Drummond will give a general update.
Get Volunteer Trained Tomorrow! All new volunteers must complete an online training on Monday, September 14. Here are the meeting links for the 9:00 am session and the 12:00 pm session. Questions? Email volunteercoordinator@hillpta.
PTA Merchandise is ready for pick-up next Saturday if you purchased: The moment has arrived! Merch will be ready for pick-up Saturday, 9/19, at Hill (in front of the school) between 10-12. Check out a fun competition you can take part in from the Texas Society of Microscopy called the “Ugly Bug Competition”. Here are the rules to the competition. It is photo based! No live insects, please. Entries can be emailed to Principal Drummond. Students were told about this at assembly on Thursday.

Mensaje de la PTA sobre el Desfile de la Herencia de Hill y la Semana Internacional de la Lectura: ¡ Invitamos a todas las familias de Hill a compartir su herencia cultural con la comunidad! Por favor, háganos saber si está interesado en participar en los emocionantes eventos que hemos planeado para la semana del 14 al 18 de septiembre . Desfile de la Herencia: viernes 18 de septiembre después de la asamblea matutina. Se anima a los estudiantes a vestirse con atuendos culturales y/o ondear banderas. ¡La participación es opcional pero se recomienda! Lectura de Libros Internacionales : Se invita a los padres a leer un libro corto a la clase de su hijo sobre su cultura, una tradición o en otro idioma. ¡A nuestros Dillos les encanta esta tradición! Nuestra representante de ACPTA para Hill, Lily McClure, compartirá información y presentará propuestas sobre defensa de intereses y formas de participar, además de responder preguntas sobre diversos temas que afectan a Hill y al Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin (AISD) en este momento. El director Drummond ofrecerá una actualización general.

¡No te pierdas el divertido concurso de la Sociedad de Microscopía de Texas, el "Concurso de Insectos Feos"! Aquí tienes las reglas : ¡Solo se aceptan fotos! No se permiten insectos vivos. Puedes enviar tus fotos por correo electrónico al director Drummond. El jueves, durante la asamblea, se informó a los alumnos sobre este concurso.
