Frequently Asked Questions

I have some old art supplies and random junk around the house that I’d like to donate. How do I do that?

Art teachers LOVE random art supplies and junk! Just put them in a bag/box, label it “Hill Art Dept,” and either send it with your child or drop it off at the office. And THANK YOU! We will find some creative things to do with them or send them along to other art teacher friends.

Any donations in particular that the Art Department needs?

Favorite donated items: Old calendars (especially art, animal, or nature themed), kid-friendly magazines, sewing notions (ribbon, lace, buttons) and empty toilet paper tubes.

My little Picasso can’t get enough art! What can I do to encourage my budding artist?

Encourage your little artistic genius to keep a sketchbook or art journal. This can be as simple as blank pages stapled together to a sketchbook purchased from an art store. An art journal is a great place to practice drawing ideas, cut and glue inspiring ideas from magazines, and just experiment. It is not meant to be a collection of perfect drawings. Please don’t let your little Picasso cross out so-called mistakes! We like to say, “There are no mistakes in art --- only opportunities for creativity!”
