Dear Hill Community,

This week, we invite all of our 1st through 5th grade parents/guardians to our annual Back to School Night event this Thursday, September 3rd from 5:30-7:00 pm. We will begin with introductions from Principal Drummond and PTA in the cafeteria. At 6:00 pm, you will be released to go to your teacher’s classroom for a presentation. Be on the lookout for more information from your teachers if they may be presenting in alternate spaces or together as teams. This is an adults only event.

We want to invite all of our staff and students to wear their college colors this Friday (9/4) for AISD College Colors Day. Football is back and each year we celebrate our goal of college and career ready for all students in the district these first few weeks.

Help us as a lunch volunteer through PTA! We’re looking for lunch volunteers as we kick off the school year. Having 2 volunteers daily to help in the cafeteria during lunch throughout the year would be such an amazing gift. If you could consider this support, it will help Ms. Sherice who will be returning from a procedure and could use the helping hands! She does a lot for our students so thank you for considering helping her. This extra support is during the younger grades' lunches to offer more support for grabbing forks, napkins, dismissal/cleanup, monitoring bathrooms, or simply giving extra smiles. • The shifts are only 1 hour
• Shift is from 11:30-12:30
• You will need to sign in at the office before the shift begins
• You get to snag a hug from your student if you see them!

Support our Weekend Meals Program at Hill through PTA: Looking for a fun and meaningful way to give back? We’d love your help! Each Friday morning, families can join the Hill Caring & Sharing Committee in delivering weekend meals and snacks to classrooms to help make sure all of our Hill students have something to take home for the weekend. It’s a simple way for parents and students to lend a helping hand and make a big difference in our school community!

Gifted and Talented Services Updates for the New School Year: If you are interested in learning more about the G/T (Gifted and Talented) nomination process for students not identified, we will be offering a virtual information session this Friday, September 4th at 9:00 am.

Reminder on Austin ISD personal device policy: Last school year, Texas lawmakers passed, and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law, House Bill 1481, which prohibits students from using personal devices on district premises during school hours. House Bill 1481 requires all Texas school districts to prohibit the use of “personal wireless communication devices”—defined as any wireless electronic communication device, other than one issued by the school for instructional purposes, that is capable of transmitting or receiving data. Items that must now be turned off and put away on Austin ISD campuses from bell to bell:

• Personal cell phones
• Tablets
• Gaming devices
• Smart watches
• Bluetooth headphones or earbuds
• Fitness trackers that can send or receive messages
• Personal (non-district-issued) computers (laptops and Chromebooks) 
• Two-way radios
• Pagers
• Any other device capable of digital communication

Devices must be turned off, stored out of sight, and not used during school hours. Violations will result in the confiscation of the item. Thank you all for talking with your students on keeping cell phones or smart watches in their backpacks turned off or at home.

Esta semana, invitamos a todos los padres/tutores de alumnos de 1.º a 5.º grado a nuestra Noche Anual de Regreso a Clases este jueves 3 de septiembre de 5:30 p. m. a 7:00 p. m . Comenzaremos con las presentaciones del director Drummond y la PTA en la cafetería. A las 6:00 p. m., podrán dirigirse al salón de clases de su maestro para una presentación. Estén atentos a más información de sus maestros si presentan en espacios alternativos o en equipo. Este evento es solo para adultos.

Queremos invitar a todo nuestro personal y estudiantes a vestir los colores de su universidad este viernes (4/9) para el Día de los Colores Universitarios de AISD . El fútbol americano ha vuelto y, como cada año, celebramos nuestro objetivo de que todos los estudiantes del distrito estén preparados para la universidad y el mundo laboral durante estas primeras semanas.

¡Ayúdanos como voluntario para el almuerzo a través de la PTA! Buscamos voluntarios para el almuerzo al inicio del año escolar. Contar con 2 voluntarios diarios para ayudar en la cafetería durante el almuerzo durante todo el año sería un regalo increíble. Si puedes considerar este apoyo, ayudarás a la Sra. Sherice, quien regresará de un procedimiento y necesita ayuda. Ella hace mucho por nuestros estudiantes, así que gracias por considerar ayudarla. Este apoyo adicional es durante los almuerzos de los grados más pequeños para brindar más ayuda con los tenedores, servilletas, salida/limpieza, supervisión de los baños o simplemente para dar sonrisas adicionales. • Los turnos son de solo 1 hora. El
• turno es de 11:30 a 12:30.

Apoye nuestro Programa de Comidas de Fin de Semana en Hill a través de la PTA: ¿ Busca una forma divertida y significativa de ayudar? ¡Nos encantaría contar con su ayuda! Cada viernes por la mañana, las familias pueden unirse al Comité de Solidaridad de Hill para entregar comidas y refrigerios de fin de semana en las aulas y así asegurar que todos nuestros estudiantes de Hill tengan algo para llevar a casa. ¡Es una manera sencilla para que padres y estudiantes colaboren y marquen una gran diferencia en nuestra comunidad escolar!

Actualizaciones sobre los Servicios para Alumnos con Talento y Altas Capacidades para el Nuevo Año Escolar: Si le interesa obtener más información sobre el proceso de nominación para alumnos con talento y altas capacidades que aún no han sido identificados, ofreceremos una sesión informativa virtual este viernes 4 de septiembre a las 9:00 a. m.

Recordatorio sobre la política de dispositivos personales del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin (Austin ISD) : El año escolar pasado, los legisladores de Texas aprobaron y el gobernador Greg Abbott promulgó la Ley 1481 de la Cámara de Representantes, que prohíbe a los estudiantes usar dispositivos personales en las instalaciones del distrito durante el horario escolar. La Ley 1481 de la Cámara de Representantes exige que todos los distritos escolares de Texas prohíban el uso de "dispositivos personales de comunicación inalámbrica", definidos como cualquier dispositivo electrónico de comunicación inalámbrica, que no sea uno emitido por la escuela con fines educativos, capaz de transmitir o recibir datos. Los artículos que ahora deben apagarse y guardarse en los campus del Austin ISD desde el inicio hasta el final de la jornada escolar son:

• teléfonos celulares personales,
• tabletas,
• dispositivos de juegos
• , relojes inteligentes
• , auriculares o audífonos Bluetooth,
• rastreadores de actividad física que pueden enviar o recibir mensajes,
• computadoras personales (no emitidas por el distrito) (portátiles y Chromebooks),
• radios bidireccionales
• ,
• buscapersonas
• y cualquier otro dispositivo capaz de comunicación digital. Los

dispositivos deben apagarse, guardarse fuera de la vista y no usarse durante el horario escolar. Las infracciones resultarán en la confiscación del artículo. Gracias a todos por hablar con sus alumnos sobre la importancia de mantener los teléfonos móviles o relojes inteligentes apagados en sus mochilas o dejarlos en casa.
