An Update from Principal Drummond 4/12/26

Dear Hill Community,

Just a reminder that this Tuesday, our 5th graders will be taking the STAAR Science Assessment, so again our campus visitation will be limited as it was last week. Thank you to our 5th grade families for having your students ready with good sleep and a good breakfast! All 5th graders should be here by 7:35 am if possible so we can start promptly. Also, don’t forget this Friday (4/17) is Dream Job Dress-Up Day! We look forward to seeing our students dress for the jobs they are preparing for today.

We look forward to welcoming all incoming Pre-K4 and Kindergarten Families interested in Hill this Wednesday, April 15th. We will be holding our annual Pre-K/Kindergarten Round-Up event at 9:00 am in our Hill Cafeteria. We will welcome families and students to visit, take care of important documents, and more. Students will even visit a classroom with a Hill teacher! Following the event, we will also have a student-led parent tour of the campus at 10:15 am. We hope to see our community there. Spread the word! Also, registration for incoming Pre-K4 students is open at www.austinisd.org/enroll. We encourage you to register your student as soon as possible.

Mark your calendars for the Annual Dillo Dash Color Run: The Dillo Dash is back on Friday, April 24 at 4pm, complete with a Color Run, Health Fair and a Mini Run for future Dillos! Register to join or sign up to volunteer HERE! We do need volunteer help providing supplies, setting up, throwing colored powder, and passing out popsicles so any help you can give is appreciated. Sign up HERE to help! Reach out to Erik Stanley, Dillo Dash Chair, at dillodash@hillelementary.com with any questions. See you there Dillos!!!

Click here for information on our Hill Caregiver Book Club organized by our Hill counseling team. The book is “Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline” by Dr. Becky A. Bailey. The first meeting will take place at 7:45 am on April 21st. We encourage our Hill parents and guardians to read and join us.

Current Kindergarten-4th Grade Families: It is that time of year for our parents/guardians to fill out a Student Information Form to help provide input as we begin to discuss classroom placements for the next school year with our staff. We value your feedback and intimate knowledge of your student(s) both academically and emotionally. As always, we request you not make specific teacher requests as many factors go into these decisions. Please complete the linked Google Form by Friday, April 17th if you are interested.

The NWACA Earth Day Festival is this upcoming Sunday, April 19th from 2:00-4:00 in the Hill Garden Area. They hope to see our Hill families there! Here is their flyer with more information.

We will have our annual Human Sexuality and Responsibility Parent Orientation for those interested on Monday, April 20th at 3:30 pm in our Hill Library. Information was sent in a separate letter on the process this year, which has not changed at all from the previous years. You can click here for more information on HSR and the process.

We hope everyone has a nice week of spring!
