Dear Hill Community,

Just a reminder that tomorrow is a student holiday as our staff will be doing professional learning. There is no school tomorrow (Monday, April 6th). Thanks for having a plan for your student.

It is Library Appreciation Week and Assistant Principal Appreciation Week at Hill School! Thank you to Jennifer Moore and Terri Kogel-Banda who keep the love of reading alive all year long. Thank you to Ellana Selig for all the ways she helps our campus, from safety to student support, each day while we have also been short an assistant principal this spring. Let’s show our appreciation for them!

STAAR testing begins Wednesday for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. We are so proud of the hard work our students have put in. We can’t thank our teachers enough for all the preparation they have done this year and in years prior to prepare them. Here is our schedule for the next week:

• Wednesday, April 8th: 3rd, 4th, 5th STAAR Language Arts Exam (Make-Ups the Following Day)

We also want to give some reminders for our entire community as our tests are now spread out over three consecutive weeks. We limit our volunteers and visits on testing days, including not having parents/guardians eat with their students at lunch. If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, thank you for ensuring they arrive on time for testing days by 7:30 am if possible so they can be ready and prepared as we dismiss them from assembly. We also encourage a lot of sleep the night before and a healthy breakfast the morning of. Please ensure your student brings healthy snacks and a book to read each day. These things matter! Let’s give a big Dillo Cheer to our kids who are ready to show their Dillo Best. We know all of our students will make us very proud!

We hope our Hill Community can join us this Thursday, April 9th at 7:45 am in our library for a PTA Parent and Caregiver Workshop titled “Protecting Children Online”, presented by the Center for Child Protection. You can view the flyers here in English and Spanish. 

Please let all incoming Pre-K4 and Kindergarten Families interested in Hill know to save the date for Wednesday, April 15th. We will be holding our annual Pre-K/Kindergarten Round-Up event that morning at 9:00 am in our Hill Cafeteria. We will welcome families and students to visit, take care of important documents, and more. Students will even visit a classroom with a Hill teacher! Following the event, we will also have a student-led parent tour of the campus at 10:15 am. We hope to see our community there. Spread the word! Also, registration for incoming Pre-K4 students began this Wednesday, April 1st at www.austinisd.org/enroll. We encourage you to register your student as soon as possible.

Hill’s Annual Problem-Based Learning Project: You can click here to view and get your student participating in our Hill Problem-Based Learning Activity for spring of 2026. This is a fun way to get students to think critically while supporting our school to be a better place. Projects/presentations will be due at the end of April to teachers if participating. We look forward to our Dillos’ amazing ideas!

Be sure to stop at Cabo Bob’s from 5:00-9:00 pm on Anderson this Tuesday for Hill Spirit Night! Get some great food and support Hill PTA.

Les recordamos que mañana es feriado estudiantil, ya que nuestro personal estará en capacitación profesional. No hay clases mañana (lunes 6 de abril). Gracias por tener un plan para su hijo/a. ¡

Es la Semana de Agradecimiento a la Biblioteca y la Semana de Agradecimiento a la Subdirectora en la Escuela Hill! Gracias a Jennifer Moore y Terri Kogel-Banda, quienes mantienen vivo el amor por la lectura durante todo el año. Gracias a Ellana Selig por todas las maneras en que ayuda a nuestro campus, desde la seguridad hasta el apoyo estudiantil, cada día, mientras que también hemos estado sin subdirectora esta primavera. ¡Mostremos nuestro agradecimiento a ellas!

Las pruebas STAAR comienzan el miércoles para nuestros alumnos de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado. Estamos muy orgullosos del arduo trabajo que han realizado nuestros estudiantes. No podemos agradecer lo suficiente a nuestros maestros por toda la preparación que han hecho este año y en años anteriores para prepararlos. Este es nuestro horario para la próxima semana:

• Miércoles 8 de abril: Examen STAAR de Artes del Lenguaje de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado (Recuperaciones al día siguiente)

También queremos recordarles a toda nuestra comunidad que nuestras pruebas ahora se realizarán durante tres semanas consecutivas. Limitamos la cantidad de voluntarios y visitas los días de prueba, incluyendo que los padres/tutores no coman con sus hijos durante el almuerzo. Si tienen un hijo de 3.º, 4.º o 5.º grado, les agradecemos que se aseguren de que llegue a tiempo los días de prueba a las 7:30 a. m. si es posible, para que esté listo y preparado cuando salgamos de la asamblea. También les recomendamos que duerman bien la noche anterior y que desayunen saludablemente la mañana del día de la prueba. Por favor, asegúrense de que su hijo traiga refrigerios saludables y un libro para leer cada día. ¡Esto es importante! ¡Demos un fuerte aplauso a nuestros niños que están listos para mostrar lo mejor de sí! ¡Sabemos que todos nuestros estudiantes nos harán sentir muy orgullosos!

Esperamos que nuestra comunidad de Hill nos acompañe este jueves 9 de abril a las 7:45 a. m. en nuestra biblioteca para un taller de la PTA para padres y cuidadores titulado “Protegiendo a los niños en línea”, presentado por el Centro para la Protección Infantil. Pueden ver los folletos aquí en inglés y español .

Por favor, informen a todas las familias interesadas en Hill que sus hijos de Pre-K4 y Kindergarten deben reservar la fecha: miércoles 15 de abril. Esa mañana, a las 9:00 a. m., celebraremos nuestro evento anual de bienvenida para Pre-K/Kergarten en la cafetería de Hill. Invitaremos a familias y estudiantes a visitar nuestras instalaciones, realizar trámites importantes y mucho más. ¡Los estudiantes incluso visitarán un aula con un maestro de Hill! Después del evento, a las 10:15 a. m., habrá un recorrido por el campus dirigido por estudiantes. ¡Esperamos contar con la presencia de nuestra comunidad! ¡Corran la voz! Además, la inscripción para los estudiantes de Pre-K4 comenzó este miércoles 1 de abril en www.austinisd.org/enroll . Les recomendamos inscribir a sus hijos lo antes posible.

Proyecto anual de aprendizaje basado en problemas de Hill: Haz clic aquí para ver el proyecto y animar a tu estudiante a participar en nuestra actividad de aprendizaje basado en problemas de Hill para la primavera de 2026. Esta es una forma divertida de fomentar el pensamiento crítico en los estudiantes, a la vez que contribuimos a mejorar nuestra escuela. Los proyectos/presentaciones deberán entregarse a los profesores participantes a finales de abril. ¡Esperamos con entusiasmo las increíbles ideas de nuestros alumnos!
