Dear Hill Community,

It was a great week at Hill School as we returned from Spring Break! As a reminder, there is no school this Tuesday, March 31st as it is a student and staff holiday. Thank you for having a plan for your student. Looking ahead, please also note that there is no school for students on April 6th for a staff development day.

Please let all incoming Pre-K4 and Kindergarten Families interested in Hill know to save the date for Wednesday, April 15th. We will be holding our annual Pre-K/Kindergarten Round-Up event that morning at 9:00 am in our Hill Cafeteria. We will welcome families and students to visit, take care of important documents, and more. Students will even visit a classroom with a Hill teacher! Following the event, we will also have a student-led parent tour of the campus at 10:15 am. We hope to see our community there. Spread the word! Also, registration for incoming Pre-K4 students begins this Wednesday, April 1st at www.austinisd.org/enroll. We encourage you to register on Wednesday.

Also for Incoming Pre-K Families: Check out this flyer with an opportunity for Virtual Enrollment Information Sessions for those interested in AISD Pre-K. The sessions are tomorrow with two opportunities to join.

Please consider helping us as a cafeteria volunteer through PTA: We REALLY need volunteers to help in the cafeteria during lunch, Dillos! It is such a huge support that is needed. A few things to know: 

• Shift is from 11:30-12:30

• The shifts are only 1 hour but even 30 minutes would be great!

• You will need to sign in at the office before the shift begins

• You get to snag a hug from your student

We hope our Hill Community can join us on Thursday, April 9th at 7:45 am in our library for a PTA Parent and Caregiver Workshop titled “Protecting Children Online”, presented by the Center for Child Protection. You can view the flyers here in English and Spanish. 

STAAR testing will take place for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders through the month of April. Here are the dates so families are aware:

• STAAR Language Arts Grades 3-5: Wednesday, April 8th

• STAAR Science Grade 5: Tuesday, April 14th

• STAAR Mathematics Grades 3-5: April 22nd

Thursday, April 2, 2026, Austin ISD will participate in a Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) statewide drill. As part of our commitment to student and staff safety, Austin ISD will evaluate the efficacy of our alerting system, Thrillshare, during a statewide exercise on Thursday, April 2. Alerts will be sent at at a TBD time through all three communication channels: SMS, robocall and email. All staff and student contacts designated Parent or Guardian in our SIS will receive notifications through all three communication channels. The messages will state clearly that it is a test. No action is needed.

Ms. Lucy who directs our 3rd Base Program would like to remind our families that after dismissal and after hours, Hill School does not offer a public restroom. They want to ensure the safety and fidelity of our after school program. Thank you for understanding.
