Dear Hill Community,
It was a great week as we kicked off the spring semester with our Dillos!
We wanted to let our entire community know that this will be our last week with Dr. Nancy Martinez on campus as she has taken an assistant principal position in Leander ISD. Nancy’s dream is to be a principal and feels this move will further help facilitate that. We appreciate her dedication to the Hill community over these five years and wish her well. We are working on securing a possible administrative substitute to support in the interim.
Please join us in celebrating the birth of Krishna Springer’s baby Aaron! He was born over the winter break. We wish Krishna well as she will now be on leave from her clerk position through March. We anticipate having support from clerical substitutes which we will communicate more on very soon.
We wanted to let everyone know that our spring lockdown drill will take place toward the end of this week. This is mandated by the state. We will practice what to do in our classrooms if there was an immediate threat on campus. If you would like to prepare your student(s), we use the phrase “Locks, Lights, Out of Sight” to keep it simple. We let students know that they are safe first and foremost. We ensure they know it is important to practice well and take it seriously. You can click here to see a list of drills we practice throughout the year.
5th Grade Families: We had an informative visit this week with Principal Harris and the team from Murchison Middle School. Here is the presentation in case you missed it.
Honest Mary’s Spirit Night is this Wednesday (1/14) from 5:00-9:00 pm in the Arboretum area. Be sure to stop by and support Hill Elementary School PTA! They are big supporters of us.

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 19th looking ahead for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday. We will see you all tomorrow, Hill families!

¡Fue una gran semana ya que comenzamos el semestre de primavera con nuestros Dillos!
Queríamos informar a toda nuestra comunidad que esta será nuestra última semana con la Dra. Nancy Martínez en el campus, ya que ha asumido un puesto de subdirectora en el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Leander. El sueño de Nancy es ser directora y cree que este cambio le facilitará aún más su logro. Agradecemos su dedicación a la comunidad de Hill durante estos cinco años y le deseamos lo mejor. Estamos trabajando para encontrar una posible sustituta administrativa que la apoye mientras tanto.
¡Únanse a nosotros para celebrar el nacimiento de Aaron, el bebé de Krishna Springer! Nació durante las vacaciones de invierno. Le deseamos lo mejor a Krishna, ya que estará de baja de su puesto administrativo hasta marzo. Esperamos contar con el apoyo de los sustitutos administrativos, sobre los cuales les informaremos más pronto.
Queremos informarles que nuestro simulacro de confinamiento de primavera se llevará a cabo a finales de esta semana. Esto es un mandato estatal. Practicaremos qué hacer en nuestras aulas en caso de una amenaza inmediata en el campus. Si desean preparar a sus estudiantes, usamos la frase "Cerraduras, luces, fuera de la vista" para simplificar el proceso. Les informamos a los estudiantes que su seguridad es lo primero. Familias de 5.º grado: Esta semana tuvimos una visita informativa con la directora Harris y el equipo de la Escuela Intermedia Murchison. Aquí está la presentación, por si se la perdieron.
La Noche del Espíritu de la Honesta María es este miércoles (14/1) de 17:00 a 21:00 h en el área del Arboreto. ¡No olviden visitarnos y apoyar a la Asociación de Padres y Maestros de la Escuela Primaria Hill! Nos apoyan mucho.
