Dear Hill Community,

As we speak, we are looking forward to an awesome Hill Carnival today! We hope to see you from 2:00-4:00 pm. A special thank you to the many volunteers who make this annual event possible. We also want to recognize that our Veterans' Day assembly is this Tuesday for students, which is a special event each year. Thank you to all of the Veterans in our Hill Community that have served. And thank you to Army veteran and Hill Dad Phillip Scott for being our guest presenter!

There is a General PTA Meeting this Thursday at 7:45 am in our Hill Library. PTA will also be asking for community input on the phased bond planning and construction for Hill through the Dillo Details soon if you are interested.

The  Salute! Award winners will be celebrated at our Salute! Awards ceremony on May 6th, where we will also honor Teachers of Promise and Teachers of the Year. All AISD staff, students, family, and community members are invited to nominate Austin ISD staff members in many categories. Please submit nominations using this form. Nominations close on January 16, 2026. 

A Note from our Nurse on Medications for Students: Any medication, including over-the-counter, must have a doctor and parent's signature on the Medication Authorization Permission Form linked here. The form must be filled out completely. Over-the-counter medication must be in the original container and unopened. Prescription medication must have a pharmacy label. Remember to make sure the medication is not expired. The nurse cannot give any medication without doctor and parent signatures, and students are not allowed to carry medication in their backpack without a doctor's order. 

Also, cold weather usually brings in the season where we see more illnesses and symptoms. Encourage students to wash hands frequently! Parents/guardians are allowed to bring their children any medication to school and give it in person. This does not require any signatures. Below are the reasons we would send a student home based on protocol:

• Temperature of 100 degrees or higher

• Nausea, Vomiting, or Diarrhea

• Eye redness and/or drainage

• Undetermined rash and/or scaly patches over any part of the body or scalp

• Intense itching with signs and symptoms of secondary infection

• Open, draining lesions

Students cannot return to school until they have been symptom-free, without the use of medication, for 24 hours. Please do not send them back to school the next day. We appreciate everyone working to keep our school and kids as healthy as possible!

¡Estamos deseando que llegue hoy el increíble Carnaval de la Colina! Esperamos veros de 14:00 a 16:00. Un agradecimiento especial a los numerosos voluntarios que hacen posible este evento anual.

Este jueves a las 7:45 a. m. se celebrará la reunión general de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) en la Biblioteca Hill. La PTA también solicitará próximamente la opinión de la comunidad sobre la planificación y construcción por fases del proyecto de bonos para Hill a través de Dillo Details, si les interesa.

Los ganadores del Premio ¡Saludos! serán homenajeados en nuestra ceremonia de entrega de premios el 6 de mayo, donde también honraremos a los Maestros Prometedores y a los Maestros del Año. Todo el personal, estudiantes, familiares y miembros de la comunidad del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin (AISD) están invitados a nominar a miembros del personal del AISD en diversas categorías. Por favor, envíen sus nominaciones a través de este formulario . El plazo para las nominaciones finaliza el 16 de enero de 2026.

Nota de nuestra enfermera sobre medicamentos para estudiantes: Todo medicamento, incluso los de venta libre, debe contar con la firma del médico y de los padres en el Formulario de Autorización de Medicamentos (enlace aquí) . El formulario debe completarse en su totalidad. Los medicamentos de venta libre deben estar en su envase original y sin abrir. Los medicamentos recetados deben tener la etiqueta de la farmacia. Recuerde verificar que el medicamento no esté vencido. La enfermera no puede administrar ningún medicamento sin las firmas del médico y de los padres, y los estudiantes no pueden llevar medicamentos en su mochila sin una orden médica.

Además, el clima frío suele traer consigo la temporada en la que se observan más enfermedades y síntomas. ¡Animen a los estudiantes a lavarse las manos con frecuencia! Los padres o tutores pueden traer cualquier medicamento de sus hijos a la escuela y administrárselo personalmente. Esto no requiere ninguna firma. A continuación, se detallan los motivos por los que enviaríamos a un estudiante a casa según el protocolo:

• Temperatura de 38 °C o más.

• Náuseas, vómitos o diarrea.

• Enrojecimiento y/o secreción ocular.

• Sarpullido y/o placas escamosas de origen desconocido en cualquier parte del cuerpo o cuero cabelludo.

• Picazón intensa con signos y síntomas de infección secundaria

• . Lesiones abiertas con secreción.

Los alumnos no pueden regresar a la escuela hasta que hayan estado libres de síntomas, sin el uso de medicamentos, durante 24 horas. Por favor, no los envíen de regreso a la escuela al día siguiente. ¡Agradecemos a todos su colaboración para mantener nuestra escuela y a nuestros alumnos lo más sanos posible!
