An Update from Principal Drummond 4/28/24

Dear Hill Community,

We move into the busy month of May this week! On Friday, our students participating will perform our annual Hill Musical for our school and then families at night. We are proud of them and thankful to our music teachers who have readied them for this fun event.

We are pleased to share that we are currently fully staffed for the upcoming school year. This can always change, but below are our current updates:

  • In Special Education, Suzanne Schnars will be leaving her ECSE position. We appreciate her excellent year of service to our students! Wendy Lee will be moving into a Special Education Resource position from her current 1st grade position for next year.

  • In 1st Grade, Rachel Atzmon is joining us from Davis Elementary where she has been teaching 1st grade for 7 years.

  • In 4th grade, Krista Davis is retiring after 25 years in AISD and 18 at Hill. Dillo Cheer on that amazing accomplishment! We have two new staff members joining us as we are also adding a 4th grade position. Mikaela Connor is joining us from Richardson ISD where she has taught 3rd grade for the last 3 years. Bilyesia Cooper is joining us from Widen Elementary in AISD where she has taught 3rd and 4th grade for the last 4 years.

  • In 5th grade, we are adding a position. Jessie Grefe is joining our team after teaching 3 years in Madrid, Spain and student teaching at Doss Elementary previously.

  • In Essential Areas, Anna Kotecki is leaving her art position at Hill. We appreciate her excellent year of service! Melanie Ramos (previously Brown) is joining our team as an Art teacher. Melanie previously taught at Hill on our 3rd and 4th grade teams.

Incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten Families: This Thursday, May 2nd is our special Principal Coffee for our parents/guardians at 7:45 am in the Hill Library. This event is not for students. We will give a presentation on Hill and important things to know to have you feeling prepared for the fall. Also, we will have a teacher from each grade level there to answer questions you may have. We hope to see you there! If you can’t make it, there will be more information in the fall at our Back to School Night event.

We will have many end of year updates coming up soon. Teacher Appreciation Week begins on May 6th. We look forward to a fun last four weeks!
